200 Cupcakes? Accomplished!

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on November 27, 2009

Ah-hoy! :D

I’m done with the 200 cupcakes for the wedding!

(Round of applause!!!)

I completed the last 24 this morning! I completed it at 3AM! No photos… Until tomorrow or Sunday!!! The wedding is tomorrow and… I’m going to take lots of photos to compromise the lack of updates. :) Let me talk about the cupcakes. :D I’ve been rolling and kneading fondant and gum paste so much that my hands are aching and are sore now. I’ve been sleeping at 7AM for the past few nights and… No! I’m not complaining! I love what I do. Be it netball or baking. I love whatever I’m doing! I’d love to bake for the rest of my life! That’s a dream. :) My teacher, Miss Huang wanted the colors to be Pink, Tiffany Blue, Yellow and Purple. Well, just cheerful colors! And I managed to incorporate those colors into the cupcakes. I made bows, bows, butterflies, bumble bees, roses, hearts, small flowers and did I mention bows? Hahahaha. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Hahaha. I guess it’s normal… IT’S NORMAL! Hahaha. Some cupcakes are butter and some are chocolate but after covering them with fondant, I can’t differentiate. Haha. Erh… Now that’s bad! :P Well… I just hope everyone likes it or maybe… Love it! I put a lot of effort into them so I hope my effort pay off! Angel, bless me and the cupcakes! Photos up tomorrow or on Sunday! :D

Graduation High Tea Cupcakes

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on November 10, 2009

Hi! I’m back with another sample. This is for my school’s graduation high tea and my teachers asked if I could do cupcakes with a graduation hat and using the combination of my school’s colors. I added the scroll myself! And yes, I’ll add a red ribbon the next time round! :D Light blue for the base, dark blue for the hat, a little bit of gold and orange. I guess it worked out fine. :) I don’t know if my principal or the teachers in charge liked it or not… I’ll just keep my fingers crossed! By the way, I didn’t had the time to take good photos of the cupcakes and I took photos of them last minute using my cellphone. :( Chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting! Better photos the next time round. If the principal and teachers are happy, I’m going to do 20 of these! :D I can’t wait!

Mizz Huang’s Cupcakes!

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on October 26, 2009

Hellooooo. I’m back with cupcakes this time. :)

I’m doing a cupcake order this time and these are just samples that I’m going to show to my teacher who ordered 300 cupcakes for her wedding!!! Cool or what?! I tried to come up with as many ideas as possible but my mom and dad were constantly reminding me to keep it sweet and simple. ~.~ So… I ended up with this. I’m suppose to do 100 plain cupcakes, 100 chocolate mint cupcakes and 100 chocolate cupcakes but these were samples so I made all of them chocolate and frosted with cream cheese frosting. I’m thinking of chocolate frosting for the actual cupcakes! Coffee butter cream? Butter cream? I don’t know! I love my sliver cupcake cases. :D I think I can do a better job once I get the gum paste online. I’m doing Pink, Purple and Red roses. :) I hope they get approved! (Crosses fingers)

Garden Theme Fondant Cake And Gumpaste Roses

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on October 23, 2009

I’m back with a cake! The cake is for my coach and I’ve given it to her. :) The inside of the cake is chocolate and frosted with cream cheese frosting. I made the bear figurine! It turned out so much better than the last time! I was elated! I gave up half way but when my brother complimented it, I decided to give it another try. I added the bow on the head because… Aren’t bows fashionable these days? Everyone’s wearing it! Hahaha. My brother is honest with the cakes that I make and his comments can be very insulting sometimes. Remember the Eeyore Theme Cake? Initially, there were a lot of flowers and leaves and he said, “Omg. Look like jungle.” so, I removed a bunch of flowers and leaves. And it did look better, so much better. Insulting but… True. Hahaha. And whenever I receive a bad comment, I do feel bad but it makes me more determined to improve and do better. I don’t surrender to failure. :) Back to cake! I covered the cake board with green fondant… And the flowers, leaves and so on were made out of gum paste. Not to mention the bear as well. I hope you like the cake! :D

Let me side track a little… Thank you for the 1000 hits! Thanks for the comments! :D There’s a rating widget at the bottom of each post and I do hope that you’d rate! I’ll continue doing cakes! And answer your questions. :)

I finally learned how to make gum paste roses! I had to watch the video over and over again to remember the steps. Now, I think I’m ready to get the “stem”. :) It took me awhile to get the hang of it but it’s really fun. Photos!

Goodnight!

Bear Topper Fondant Cupcakes

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on October 16, 2009

Hi again! Not back with a cake but cupcakes. I want to do a cake but there’s no occasion to make a fondant cake! :(

This is my first time making a bear figure. It is made out of gum paste which is awesome at holding it’s shape. I added fresh strawberries into the cupcake mixture. It was a vanilla cupcake mix. I love strawberries but it didn’t came out the way I wanted so yeah, I might add more next time. :P

I dug out the cake and I saw the strawberries.. Melted. :’(

I regretted using the white cases. I should have stuck using the gold and sliver cases!!! And the bears look super weird here. Never mind, I’ll compromise! :)
