Foral Delight (Thanks anqiler!)

Hellooooo. I’m back with cupcakes this time. :)

I’m doing a cupcake order this time and these are just samples that I’m going to show to my teacher who ordered 300 cupcakes for her wedding!!! Cool or what?! I tried to come up with as many ideas as possible but my mom and dad were constantly reminding me to keep it sweet and simple. ~.~ So… I ended up with this. I’m suppose to do 100 plain cupcakes, 100 chocolate mint cupcakes and 100 chocolate cupcakes but these were samples so I made all of them chocolate and frosted with cream cheese frosting. I’m thinking of chocolate frosting for the actual cupcakes! Coffee butter cream? Butter cream? I don’t know! I love my sliver cupcake cases. :D I think I can do a better job once I get the gum paste online. I’m doing Pink, Purple and Red roses. :) I hope they get approved! (Crosses fingers)

Garden Theme Fondant Cake And Gumpaste Roses

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on October 23, 2009

I’m back with a cake! The cake is for my coach and I’ve given it to her. :) The inside of the cake is chocolate and frosted with cream cheese frosting. I made the bear figurine! It turned out so much better than the last time! I was elated! I gave up half way but when my brother complimented it, I decided to give it another try. I added the bow on the head because… Aren’t bows fashionable these days? Everyone’s wearing it! Hahaha. My brother is honest with the cakes that I make and his comments can be very insulting sometimes. Remember the Eeyore Theme Cake? Initially, there were a lot of flowers and leaves and he said, “Omg. Look like jungle.” so, I removed a bunch of flowers and leaves. And it did look better, so much better. Insulting but… True. Hahaha. And whenever I receive a bad comment, I do feel bad but it makes me more determined to improve and do better. I don’t surrender to failure. :) Back to cake! I covered the cake board with green fondant… And the flowers, leaves and so on were made out of gum paste. Not to mention the bear as well. I hope you like the cake! :D

Let me side track a little… Thank you for the 1000 hits! Thanks for the comments! :D There’s a rating widget at the bottom of each post and I do hope that you’d rate! I’ll continue doing cakes! And answer your questions. :)

I finally learned how to make gum paste roses! I had to watch the video over and over again to remember the steps. Now, I think I’m ready to get the “stem”. :) It took me awhile to get the hang of it but it’s really fun. Photos!

Goodnight!

Bear Topper Fondant Cupcakes

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on October 16, 2009

Hi again! Not back with a cake but cupcakes. I want to do a cake but there’s no occasion to make a fondant cake! :(

This is my first time making a bear figure. It is made out of gum paste which is awesome at holding it’s shape. I added fresh strawberries into the cupcake mixture. It was a vanilla cupcake mix. I love strawberries but it didn’t came out the way I wanted so yeah, I might add more next time. :P

I dug out the cake and I saw the strawberries.. Melted. :’(

I regretted using the white cases. I should have stuck using the gold and sliver cases!!! And the bears look super weird here. Never mind, I’ll compromise! :)

Just A Short Update

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on October 4, 2009

Hello! I’ve stopped baking due to the exams but I’ll be back! :D

My father wouldn’t let me bake, the bosses of Billy Bombers are ordering cakes from me after the exams, the oven’s screaming to be used, the mixer is aching to be used and me? I can’t wait to bake again!

There will be a lot happening after the exams. My father will be sending me go baking classes and cake decorating classes. Hopefully, I can get the air brush that I want and a video camera to video down the cakes I’ve done. I’m bad at taking photos but I’ll try, I’ll try. The camera is being send for repair… I DIDN’T DESTROY IT.

The exams will end on Friday and I’ll be free!!!

See you soon! I’ll be back with better creations, I hope. :D

My First 3 Tiers Fondant Cake!

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on September 22, 2009

Hello! I made this cake a couple of days back. It was for my father’s friend 55th birthday. I wasn’t given any theme… So I came up with the design myself. Er… Pretty random, I know. All fondant except the stars, hearts and the “55″ which was made from gum paste. Gum paste is great for holding it’s shape! But hard to work with so you got to be quick! The cake is frosted with chocolate frosting and the filling is strawberry jam. :) I used luster dust and pearl dust too. I’m using 2 different towels as the background to test which one allows the cake to stand out more. I’m looking for a black towel! Hope you like this cake. :)

Fondant Pig Cupcakes

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on September 12, 2009

This is my first time making these pigs’ faces cupcakes. They are for a best friend of mine, Boohui. She loves pigs! Chocolate cupcakes frosted with chocolate frosting then covered with fondant. It wasn’t difficult! In fact, I’m glad I bought a tub of black fondant! It was expensive but worth it because… COLORING FONDANT TO BLACK IS JUST SO HARD! Okay… Here they are:

Fondant Cupcakes! And My Father’s Birthday Cake.

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on September 2, 2009

Cupcakes are chocolate cupcakes frosted with chocolate frosting. Just a little frosting so the fondant will stick onto the cupcakes. 12 cupcakes, 6 in each box. “Farah” and “Norlyn” were the names. I didn’t want to repeat the design so I did them both very differently and it took 4 – 6 hours to complete. I’m quite slow… But I rather be slow and steady! :) The photos are badly taken and I know. Bad reflection, bad focus and bad angles. OH WELL… Sorry!

And the cake I baked for my father. Fruit Cake with Barcadi. :)

A Mixed Theme Fondant Cake

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on August 15, 2009

It’s been long since I updated… I did this cake on Wednesday and this cake was wrong from the moment I frosted the cake. I had many problems with this cake! I was pissed that I wanted to throw the whole cake away but Mom kept encouraging me to go on and try to salvage the cake. I tried and it worked out… But it wasn’t what I had in mind. Am I disappointed? YES I AM. I guess we all have cake wrecks and bad days… I’ll try harder next time! The cake had 2 themes, one side was Tigger the other LV but it failed miserably. I guess the Tigger side came out good the other… Don’t talk about it! :( I used bronze pearl dust for the small squares to give it more effect and I’m falling in love with pearl dust and luster dust! I’m looking forward to the next cake which is my Dad’s cake! I’m just glad everyone liked it, and I appreciate the encouragements and the compliments. :)

Chocolate Chip Cookies And Fondant Elmo Figure

Posted in Treasure Chest by Rachel. C on August 1, 2009

I made Chocolate Chip Cookies this afternoon. Decided to give them to friends. And I’ve been using the same recipe since I was 14! It never disappoints! But of course, I made a few changes to the recipe. :P

A present for a friend. :)

My first attempt at making an Elmo figure out of fondant. I watched a tutorial on YouTube and decided to try it. It looks… Weird. Anyway, the Elmo is wearing a diaper with a button at the front. So yeah… I know I know. Don’t start throwing hate comments at me, please.

And the pig… The reason why the left eye looks weird is because I accidently smashed it. :(

HAHAHAH!
